Free Music on a Mission

Join pianist Eugenia Cheng and soprano Nathalie Colas for Mélodies Francaises for the next First at Two music series concert. Featuring songs by female composers such as Cecile Chaminade, Nadia Boulanger, and Pauline Viardot, these highly acclaimed artists offer an intimate performance style. The concert will be in French, however French language skills are not required to enjoy this compelling music!

Cheng, a concert pianist, will accompany Colas who has been described as a “luminous soprano” with a voice that’s “floating, silky” and “hypnotic”. Nathalie was born and raised in Strasbourg, France and is a graduate of DePaul University School of Music and the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She completed her opera training at the Swiss Opera Studio/Hochschule der Kunst Bern, Switzerland.

First at Two founder Christopher Lorimer had this to say, “I have long been a fan of Nathalie’s, having known her when she was an undergraduate student. Over the last several years she’s made a name for herself in the Chicago area and beyond due to her incredibly beautiful voice, charming presence, interesting programming, and impeccable musicianship.”

A goodwill offering from the performance will benefit the CROP Hunger Walk, a nationwide movement sponsored by Church World Service to raise funds to end hunger and poverty in the U.S. and around the world.
