Naperville Community gardeners Present “Going Native”

You started with a coneflower or milkweed and now you are hooked on native plants. It is easy to do but there is some basic knowledge that will help you do it right. The internet and social media describe gardening with natives in broad strokes. Now let’s fill in some of the details. We’ll discuss some basic concepts about native plants as well as some misconceptions. We will also learn about the pollinators that benefit from our native gardens. 

“Going Native” will be presented by Sharon Yiesla, Horticultural Services. Ms. Yiesla earned a BS in Horticulture from Purdue University and a MS in Horticulture from the University of Illinois. Her past accomplishments include teaching at Illinois State University, working as a Horticulture Specialist for the University Extension in Missouri, working as a Horticulture Educator with the University of Illinois Extension in Lake County and teaching classes at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
